On the AI screen, you can ask questions about your ZARMS cards and boards in everyday language. It’s handy when you want to look across many cards, with questions like “What do I need to do this week?” or “Which boards are stuck?” You can also ask it to create cards or change assignees. Actions that AI proposes don’t run until you check them and press Continue.

Who can use it

  • Teams on a trial, or on Starter or a higher plan
  • An admin hasn’t turned off AI features
  • You have credits left and haven’t reached the monthly limit
If you can’t use it, see AI is unavailable.

Ask a question

1

Open the AI screen

Press AI in the left navigation. You also move to this screen if you type in the “Ask anything” box on Home and send.
2

Write your question and send it

Write what you want to know and send it. Below the input box, you can see roughly how many credits the question will use (“About N Credits”).
3

Check the answer and its sources

Below the answer, what AI looked at (Search filters, Drive for Google Drive, and Help Center for this Help Center) is listed under Sources. AI answers can be wrong, so check the sources for anything important.

Example questions

  • Show me the cards where it’s my turn, in the order I should do them
  • List the cards due this week in the order to do them today
  • Which boards have stalled, and where are they stuck?
  • On the “Hiring” board, which cards have been waiting for review for a long time?
  • How do I invite a Guest? (For how-to questions, AI answers based on Help Center articles.)

Ask AI to take actions

Ask something like “Make me the Processor on overdue cards” or “Create cards from these meeting notes,” and AI shows Proposed actions. Check them and press Continue to run them with your permissions. Press Reject and nothing changes. AI proposes up to 20 actions at a time. You can ask AI to do the following. You can’t ask it to delete anything.
  • Create, update, and duplicate cards and boards
  • Change a card’s status, priority, dates, assignees, and fields
  • Add steps
  • Add comments
If some actions can’t be run, you see “Some actions could not be applied.” along with the reason for each action. Check your permissions and the status of the cards involved.

Have AI read files

Press the attach button in the input box to open a screen for choosing Google Drive files. To use a file on your computer, choose it from Upload on the same screen (uploaded files are saved to your My Drive). AI takes the content of the attached files into account when it answers. You can attach up to 5 files, up to 8MB each. AI reads up to the first 12,000 characters of each file.

Continue a conversation or start a new one

Within the same conversation, you can ask follow-up questions that build on earlier ones. For a different topic, press New at the top of the AI screen to start fresh. You can open past conversations from History at the top of the screen. History shows only your own conversations.

How credits are used

Each question you send uses credits. The amount depends on how long the question and answer are, and an estimate appears below the input box. Running proposed actions with Continue doesn’t use credits. For how credits are granted and their limits, see Credits.

For Guests

When a Guest asks AI, it covers only cards on the boards they were invited to and cards on My board that they created themselves.

If something goes wrong

  • You got an error instead of an answer: Press Try again in the conversation.
  • You see “Too many AI requests in a short time. Wait a moment and try again”: Too many questions were sent across your team in a short time. Wait about a minute, then send again.
  • You see “Enter a longer search (at least 2 characters).”: Make your question at least 2 characters long.
  • You see “The file is too large. The limit is 8MB.”: Make the file smaller, or choose a different file.
  • You see a message about your plan or credits: See AI is unavailable.
