# Sort with Gmail labels

> How to label ZARMS notification emails with Gmail filters. Sort them all together by sender, or by type using the subject.

All ZARMS notification emails come from `notify@app.zarms.cloud`. Create a Gmail filter that adds a label based on the sender or subject, and they won't get lost among your other emails.

## Create a filter

**1. Open the filter screen**

Click the gear at the top right of Gmail, then open **See all settings** → **Filters and Blocked
Addresses** → **Create a new filter**.

**2. Enter the conditions**

In **From**, enter `notify@app.zarms.cloud`. To sort by type, also enter a phrase from the table
below in **Subject**.

**3. Add a label**

Click **Create filter**, check **Apply the label**, and choose a label. To make a new one, use
**New label**. Separate names with `/` to nest labels, for example `ZARMS`, `ZARMS/Comments`,
and `ZARMS/Deadlines`.

**4. Decide what happens in your inbox**

For emails you don't want to miss, leave **Skip the Inbox (Archive it)** and **Mark as read**
unchecked. If they end up in spam, check **Never send it to Spam**.

**5. Label emails you already have**

To add the label to emails that have already arrived, check **Also apply filter to matching
conversations** before you create the filter.

## Tell types apart by subject

Subjects are in English or Japanese, depending on your Google account's language setting. Use the phrases for the language you receive.

| Deadline digest | `upcoming deadline` | `期限が近いカード` |
| Credit usage | `Credits usage reached` | `クレジット使用量が上限` |
| Payment failed | `Payment failed` | `お支払いの確認ができませんでした` |
| Trial ending | `The trial ends` | `トライアル` |

> Notification emails also carry an `X-ZARMS-Notification` header that shows their type. If you use
> an email app other than Gmail that can sort by header, you can use it there.

## Troubleshooting

* **The filter doesn't catch the email**: If the subject phrase differs by even one character, it won't match. Look at the subject of an email you received and copy the phrase exactly. A Japanese phrase won't match an email that arrives in English, and vice versa.
* **Every notification gets the same label**: If **From** is your only condition, every notification matches. Create a separate filter for each type, adding a phrase in **Subject**.
