# Connect from Cursor and other tools

> How to connect to ZARMS by adding an API key to Cursor's MCP settings, or by using OAuth. These steps also work for other MCP clients.

In Cursor, the most common way to connect is to add an API key to the MCP settings file (`mcp.json`). If Cursor supports OAuth, you can also connect with OAuth.

Before you start, check that you meet the [requirements](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/mcp/overview.md#requirements).

## Connect with an API key

**1. Get an API key**

Ask an Owner or Manager to issue a key by following [Connect with an API key](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/mcp/api-keys.md).

**2. Add it to the settings file**

Add the following to Cursor's MCP settings (such as `mcp.json`). Replace `zarms_sk_...` with the key you were given.

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "zarms": {
      "url": "https://app.zarms.cloud/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer zarms_sk_..."
      }
    }
  }
}
```

**3. Try it in Cursor**

In Cursor's chat, ask something like "Show me my overdue cards in ZARMS." Check that you get information from ZARMS back.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Don't publish a settings file that contains your API key, for example on Git. Anyone who knows the
> key can work in that team.

## Connect with OAuth

If Cursor supports OAuth for MCP, you can connect by entering just `https://app.zarms.cloud/mcp` as the URL. The flow is the same as in [Connect from Claude](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/mcp/connect-claude.md): sign in to ZARMS, choose the team, then choose read only or read and write.

## Connect from other tools

The connection URL is the same for every tool. Use OAuth with tools that support it, and an API key with tools that only accept a key.
