# Switch between teams

> How to switch when you belong to separate teams for different companies or teams, and what is kept separate in each team. This is also where you start creating a new team.

In ZARMS, each company or organization has its own **team**. One Google account can belong to several teams, and you can switch between them at any time from the account menu in the top right.

## Switch teams

**1. Open the account menu**

Click your icon in the top right of the screen.

**2. Choose a team**

The teams you belong to are listed, and the one you're in has a check mark. Click the team you
want, and its home screen opens.

On narrow screens, click **Switch team** in the account menu to open the list.

When you sign in, the team you used last opens. If ZARMS can't tell which one, you see **Choose a team**, where you pick the team to use ([Sign in](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/getting-started/sign-in.md)).

## What each team keeps separate

A team keeps an organization's work data separate from other organizations. When you switch, everything on screen changes to that team's data.

| Kept separate | Examples |
| - | - |
| Boards and cards | Cards in other teams don't appear in search or in any list |
| Members and roles | You can be a Manager at company A and a Member at company B |
| Plan and billing | Each team has its own plan and credits |
| Settings | Team settings, custom fields, and notification settings |
| Google Drive | Each team gets its own folders for boards and cards |

Notification settings are per team too. To change notifications in several teams, switch to each team and set them there ([Choose which notifications you get](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/notifications/settings.md)).

## Create a new team

In the account menu, click **Create a new team** below the list of teams. Whoever creates a team becomes its Owner. See [Start using ZARMS in your organization (create a team)](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/getting-started/create-team.md).

To join another team, get an invitation from that team's admin ([Join a team you were invited to](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/getting-started/join-team.md)).

## Troubleshooting

* **A team you joined isn't in the list**: You may be signed in with a different Google account from the email address you were invited at. See [Can't sign in or join](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/troubleshooting/cannot-sign-in.md).
* **A board you saw before is gone after switching**: Boards and cards belong to one team. Check the check mark in the account menu to make sure you're in the right team.
