# Create a card again on a set schedule

> For work that comes back on set days, such as a weekly meeting or a monthly close, set a card to repeat and ZARMS creates the card on each of those days. How to set it, what the new cards contain, and how to stop.

For work that comes back on set days, such as a weekly meeting or monthly billing, set the card to **Repeat**. Just after midnight on each of those days, ZARMS creates a new card with the same content. You no longer need to create or duplicate the card each time.

Who can do this: anyone who can edit the card

## Set a card to repeat

**1. Open the card to copy from**

Open the card for the work you want to repeat. Fill in what should be the same every time first,
such as the assignees, the description, and the steps.

**2. Open Repeat**

In the card details, press **More actions** (the three vertical dots) at the top right and
choose **Repeat**.

**3. Choose how often**

Under **Repeat**, choose **Daily**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly**. For Weekly, choose one or more
**Days**. For Monthly, choose the **Day of month**.

**4. Add an end date if you need one, then save**

To stop on a set date, enter an **End date**. If you leave it empty, the card repeats until you
stop it. Press **Save** and you see "Repeat set."

The dialog shows **Next** with the date of the next card. The day you set the rule counts as already done, so the first card comes on the next matching day.

If a month has no such day (such as the 31st), the card is created on the last day of that month.

## What the new card contains

ZARMS copies the original card into a new card.

| Item | On the new card |
| - | - |
| Card name, board, parent card, assignees, priority, hours | Same as the original |
| Description, custom fields | Same as the original |
| Steps | The same steps, all unchecked |
| Status | The status from the board's [card defaults](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/boards/settings.md) |
| Start date and due date | Moved to that day. The gap between them and the times stay as on the original |
| Comments, followers, the repeat rule | Not copied |

The person who set the repeat rule becomes the creator of each new card. The original card stays as it is.

On the kanban and list views, cards set to repeat show a repeat icon next to the card name.

## Change or stop

Open **Repeat** from **More actions** in the card details, change the settings, and press **Save**. To stop, press **Stop repeating**. Cards that were already created stay.

## When no card is created

No card is created on a day when:

* The original card is archived
* The person who set the repeat rule has left the team
* The team's contract is suspended, or the team is over its plan limits

If ZARMS missed some days, it doesn't create a pile of cards afterwards. It creates only the most recent one.

## Troubleshooting

* **Repeat isn't in the menu**: Template cards can't repeat. If you see "Template cards cannot repeat.", turn it back into a normal card, or set the rule on a card created from the template. Archived cards can't be set either until you unarchive them.
* **"Choose at least one day" appears**: When you choose Weekly, choose at least one day.
* **"No next card (the end date has passed)" appears**: Move the end date later, or clear it.
* **The card didn't come on the day you expected**: Days follow the team's time zone. The card is created just after midnight on that day.
