# Filter and bulk edit

> How to show only the cards that match your conditions, and how to change the status, assignees, and dates of selected cards all at once.

As your cards grow, use **Filter** to keep only the cards you want to see. When you need to make the same change to many cards, **Select** them and change them together with **Bulk update**. Both work on boards and on My Board.

## Filter cards

Click **Filter** at the top of the board (Ctrl+Shift+F). Choose your conditions and click **Apply** to show only the matching cards. While a filter is on, the button shows how many conditions are set.

These are the main conditions you can set.

| Condition | When to use it |
| - | - |
| Card name | Find cards whose name contains, does not contain, starts with, or ends with a word |
| Status / Priority | For example, "only In review" or "only high priority" |
| Assignees | People in a role (Creator, Processor, Reviewer, Receiver) |
| Due date range | For example, cards due this week. Cards without a due date are judged by their start date and time |
| Custom fields | Values of fields your team has added |
| Board | On My Board, show only the cards from a specific board |

You can narrow things down further with these three switches.

* **Only cards where it's the selected people's turn**: Cards where the people you chose need to act next
* **Only cards with unfinished steps**: Cards that still have work left
* **Overdue only (the start or due time has passed)**: Cards past their start date or due date

To remove the conditions, click **Clear conditions**.

### Sort and filter on narrow screens

On a phone or other narrow screen, click **Sort** at the top of the board to open **Sort and filter**. Under **Sort**, choose **Board order**, **Due date, soonest**, **Due date, latest**, **Priority, highest**, **Priority, lowest**, or **Recently updated**. Below that, you can filter with the same conditions as above.

The sort order you choose here applies only to the card list on narrow screens. It doesn't change the board's own order (the order you set by dragging on the kanban).

> [!TIP]
>
> Your filter conditions are saved in the page URL. Send that URL to another member, and they'll see
> the same list of cards.

### Include archived cards and template cards

Archived cards are normally hidden. Turn on **Include archived** in the filter to show them with their original status. **Include template cards** is in the same place.

## Update cards in bulk

Who can do this: anyone who can edit the cards

**1. Start selecting**

Click **Select** at the top of the board. Checkboxes appear on the cards.

**2. Choose cards**

Check the cards you want to change. Click **Select all visible** to select every card currently
shown. It helps to filter first.

**3. Enter the fields to change**

Click **Bulk update** and fill in only the fields you want to change. You can change the status,
Processor, Reviewer, Receiver, start date, and due date. Fields you leave blank don't change. To
empty an assignee or date, choose **Clear**.

**4. Update**

Click **Update N**.

You can update up to 100 cards at a time. If some cards couldn't be updated, they stay selected. Check why, then try again.

You can't select cards in Timeline. Switch to Kanban or List first.

## Troubleshooting

* **You see "No cards match."**: No cards meet your filter conditions. Click **Clear conditions** to remove them. Note that My Board opens already filtered to cards where it's your turn.
* **You see "You can update up to 100 cards at once."**: Select 100 cards or fewer.
