# Check a card from its Google Doc

> When you have a card's document open in Google Docs, use the ZARMS add-on side panel to see the card's status, assignees, and comments, and to change its status.

While you write a card's document in Google Docs, the side panel on the right can show that card's status and assignees. When you finish writing, move the status forward right there, without going back to ZARMS.

[Install the add-on](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/addon/install.md) first.

## Show the card

**1. Open the card's document**

In ZARMS, open the Google Doc from the **Document** tab of the card details.

**2. Open ZARMS in the side panel**

Press the ZARMS icon in the side panel on the right. The card appears.

If the side panel asks you to allow access to the document, press **Allow access**. It asks for access to that document only, to check whether it's a card's document.

For a document that isn't linked to a card, it says "This document isn't linked to a ZARMS card."

## What you can do in the side panel

* **Change the status**: Choose one under **Status** and press **Change status**. You can choose Not started, In progress, In review, Done, or Cancelled.
* **Follow**: Press **Follow** to start getting the card's comments ([Followers](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/cards/assignees-and-dates.md#followers)).
* **View**: The card name, board, start date and due date, hours, and assignees are shown. Use the tabs at the bottom to switch between **Folder**, **Steps**, **Related**, **History**, and **Comments**.
* **Continue in ZARMS**: To write comments, edit steps, change assignees, and so on, use **Open card in ZARMS**.

Changing the status from the side panel doesn't fill in Hours (actual) automatically ([Set assignees and dates](https://help.zarms.cloud/en/cards/assignees-and-dates.md#hours)).
